At Unique Model & Talent Network, your safety is our top priority. While we work hard to verify casting professionals, the entertainment industry can sometimes attract bad actors. Please review these “Red Flags” and safety guidelines before applying for or attending any casting call.
The Golden Rule: Never Pay to Work
Legitimate casting directors, agents, and productions will NEVER ask you for money upfront. * Do NOT pay “registration fees,” “submission fees,” or “insurance fees” to secure an audition.
- Do NOT pay for mandatory “in-house” photography or portfolio packages as a condition of a job.
- Do NOT accept a check that is for “more than the amount owed” with a request to wire the overage back to the sender. This is a common banking scam.
Red Flags to Watch For
- Communication via Personal Apps Only: Be cautious if a recruiter refuses to email from a professional domain and insists on only using Telegram, WhatsApp, or Discord.
- “Too Good to Be True” Offers: If a high-paying international campaign is offered to you without a formal audition or interview, proceed with extreme caution.
- Requests for Nude or Suggestive Content: Legitimate professional auditions for commercial or fashion work will not ask for nudes via email or text.
In-Person Safety Tips
- Research the Location: Always look up the audition space. Legitimate castings take place in professional studios, offices, or rented rehearsal spaces—not private residences or hotel rooms.
- The “Plus One” Rule: Always tell someone where you are going, what time you expect to be finished, and the name of the person you are meeting. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must accompany you.
- Trust Your Gut: If a situation feels unprofessional, uncomfortable, or “off,” leave immediately. Your safety is more important than any booking.
How to Report Suspicious Activity
If you encounter a suspicious job posting or a user on our platform who makes you feel unsafe, please report it immediately to Lisa.Bayer@uniquemodelandtalentnetwork.com. We take these reports seriously and will investigate and/or ban users who violate our safety standards.
